Kallie wasn’t as shaken up as she probably should have been. She was more angry than anything. Annoyed she seemed like such an easy target for the vampire. Had she kept her wits about her she might have noticed him sooner, possibly have warned him off. Then again, if she had he may have done this to someone less fortunate. “I’ll keep that in mind next time something comes up” She spoke quietly, knowing it would be ridiculous to believe nothing like this would happen again to someone in town. Her stomach knotted over his apparent disappointment over not arriving sooner. Kallie refrained from saying anything to that comment.
She watched as the vampire was roughly handled by Valen. She couldn’t care less if he gained some other injuries during the move. He didn’t really deserve to be handled with care after he’d hurt her. “I suppose. The last thing we want is more trouble.” She muttered out to him. Kallie didn’t have the power to change another's thoughts or memories. Werewolves were not magically inclined to that like Vampires. Had a human witnessed this her reputation could have been tarnished. That thought terrified her more than anything. She wouldn’t have known what to do. Could she have left town? Kallie didn’t even want to entertain that thought.
Valen seemed to get lost in thought over her comment. Kallie had suspected her words had resonated with Valen on some level like it did with herself. Her pace slowed some as he talked, all of her attention had been on him. He made a lot of sense while he spoke. It left Kallie deep in her own thoughts on the matter. “He could have been planning to leave me alive. Some do, feed then give their victim some blood to heal and compulse them to forget. Unlikely but possible.” Pulling the bloodied cloth back from her neck she winced a little. The bleeding had stopped but the injury was still somewhat painful. “Maybe not everyone does deserve them, but if I can help it I’ll avoid killing.” It brought more trouble than it did solutions in Kallie’s mind. The only reason another pack had been hunting her family was over that very reason.
Nodding to Valen’s comment she watched him blink out of view and appear again just moments later. Passing the bloodied towel to him in exchange for the damp one she thanked him silently. Using the newer towel she wiped away what she could. Kallie had been unable to see the extent of the injury so had to make a calculated guess on working around it. Wincing some when the cloth got too close. “All things considered? I’ll survive. I’m more worried about what the others will say when I get home.” Kallie knew she couldn’t hide this, she was already dreading it. “I know I should have probably said this earlier, but… uh, thank you.” She pulled a face at the awkward verbal appreciation. Out of everyone who could have found her, she was relieved it had been him.

Well...to say things had taken a slightly sour turn would be a dramatic understatement. Things had been going so well, business was good for a week night, he'd gotten to see Kallie – and she seemed to give the place a nice thumbs up – and that was about it. He couldn't have really asked for a better night...but the feeling that had struck him had been the start of the night's all around mood. He'd shown up late, much to his dismay, but...Kallie was alive, perhaps not well, but she lived to tell the tale – not that she'd be telling it anytime soon, if ever. It had also given Valen the answer he had once longed for, sure he wanted to know just what kind of being Kallie was...but not like this.
Trying to keep things on a more serious note, Valen had hoisted the vampire up, not caring much for how he handled it as they needed to get out of here. There was no telling when someone completely innocent would wander by this alleyway, no need to see them dragging around a broken looking body, they both had reputations to uphold. Keeping on that more serious note though, Valen wasn't sure he liked the topic of second chances, he was here because of a second chance...sort of. Was it a second chance? He was sure he was beyond that, and he also wasn't sure he was one of those that deserved one after all he had done...it just wasn't something that Valen wanted to dwell on. It struck home, it was a personal topic...but he couldn't ignore it either.
“That's the problem. You can never be certain when words like 'perhaps' or 'maybe' cloud your judgment...” No one could predict these things, unless you could see into the future or read someone's mind, which Valen had never heard of before. That vampire could have allowed her to live...or it could have killed her and many others before her. Passing judgment like that was hard, but was it really worth allowing the risk to walk free? In Valen's mind he didn't think so...but he wasn't going to press the matter, he already knew where his thoughts and feelings laid on the matter, as well as Kallie's. They differed, and Valen was still considering the options for after Kallie left. Why he felt so agitated by all of this...he had no idea. At least she seemed to have more morals than he did...that darker side of his thoughts and feelings just couldn't be shaken entirely, hard as he tried.
Having dumped the vampire into the dumpster bin and making sure the lid dropped back down to keep him out of sight, Valen's attention was quickly turned back to Kallie and her injury. She needed to get cleaned up somewhat before heading home, no doubt people would stare at her if she walked the streets coated in blood, the wound itself would likely catch a few gazes, it wasn't the prettiest anyways, if anyone looked that closely. Blinking away, not even worried about if anyone in the kitchen saw him – he could cross that bridge later, though he was always careful – and getting back outside just as quickly, he traded cloths with Kallie and couldn't help but ask once more about her well being. “I take it...your family wont let it go unnoticed, or commented on...” Valen shrugged slightly, not that he knew the feeling, having no real family behind him – nothing like a human family, but he had seen plenty of them to know how protective they could be.
Hearing her words of appreciation, Valen actually let out a laugh, a really good one at that as he had studied her expression. “Now come on, thanking me can't be that bad, can it?” He calmed his amusement for the moment. “But you're welcome...I'm...glad it wasn't any worse than it could have been. I might have been a little sad if I didn't have someone smart mouthing me on a regular basis.” A little sentimental to start, but he had to cover some of that at the end with a smidge of humor at the very least. “I can take care of these cloths...you...go home. Just do two things for me. One, don't become the target of everything dangerous...and two...let me know you made it home okay.” It would likely put the demon's mind at ease the more the night went on.

Kallie’s eyes narrowed some to his comment. She wasn’t in any mood to get in a debate over how to survive. She knew the risks that came with giving out chances, just as killing another could come back to bite one in the ass. There was no right way to decide these things in her mind. All she knew was she didn’t like wasting a life, and if she could she would “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were worried about me” she commented dryly. Kallie was more certain he was upset over the fact an attack happened outside his bar, but she still couldn’t help but wonder if it had something to do with her.
Admitting her concern for how her family would react was something Kallie rarely spoke about. Protecting her family was far more important than her own well being. Now that Valen knew of what she was, he’d eventually put two and two together on what the rest of her family were. Kallie let out a small sigh and turned to face him. “We’ve been on the move for a while, but I want to make this a home. Not just some pitstop. I can’t have any of them overreacting and offing the next vampire they see” She’d been completely honest. While not all of her family would act like that, this had happened before and it never ended well. They couldn’t use violence to solve all their problems if they planned on living here.
She had to laugh at herself when Valen spoke again. “It’s not that, more the fact you’ve put yourself out like this. I would have gotten by on my own.” She arched her brow at him. Feeling more relaxed over how the conversation was turning out. It always seemed easy with Valen, he was a pretty straightforward guy which is why she liked their conversations. When he commented about being sad if she wouldn’t have been around she glanced to the ground. That pit in her stomach was back. She smiled a little at his next demands, of course he wanted peace of mind on her journey home. “No promises on the first, but I’ll text you once I’m home.” More humor in her words than her being serious. She definitely didn’t want to run into anymore problems. Passing the rags to him she nodded in appreciation and turned to leave. Arms folding around her she started to make her way out of the alley to head home.
