HUMANS
YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES OUT THERE
The waterworks of the working world. While many feed off of the seven deadly sins, some have their own ways. The humans of Valhaven, Colorado are in their own corner of the world. Some of the humans may know about the supernatural beings in their town, some however may not. Seeing is believing to a lot of people. They might not have powers, but they have means to give themselves the one up. Some use phsycal conditioning, while others have found hidden wonders of the world.
STRENGTHS:
➤ Spell casting - may not have a natural ability, but they can learn some spells.
➤ Ingesting vervain will mean vampires cannot compulse for a temporary amount of time. Also the person's blood will burn a vampire.
➤ Ingesting holy water can make their blood burn a demon for a temporary time, will also mean they cannot be mind compulsed by a demon.
➤ Wearing sapphire will mean a witch's magic won’t work against them.
➤ Ingesting wolfsbane will make the person smell ‘off’ to a werewolf, basically a repellant. Useful for when travelling during a full moon.
WEAKNESSES:
➤ Mortal - sickness and enough damage to the body could easily kill one.
➤ Ingesting holy water, vervain, wolfsbane all at the same time can cause serious hallucinations and possibly death over a prolonged period.
VAMPIRES
BLOOD FOR BLOOD
Originating from a curse bestowed by those dealing with magic, the vampire race has been around for centuries, no one truly knows what happened for this curse to rise, but since then it has done nothing but spread. Vampires are only made by either being bitten, as well as drinking the blood of their soon-to-be Sire, or a curse raised by a very powerful witch or warlock. Vampires stop aging at the time of their transformation and gain some pretty decent perks. With extreme enhanced speed and a good deal of enhanced strength and healing, vampires can protect themselves very well whether they're feeding off of human folks, or animals to survive. Blending in to the human life isn't that hard for a vampire, the mumbo jumbo about garlic and mirrors is just a farce, though don't spend too long in the sunlight, while you wont burst into flame, it will be mighty uncomfortable. Silver and copper are big no-no's to the vampire race, feeling like a constant burn against the skin, and remember to drink up, after about a week or so any vampire who hasn't fed...likely starts to lose his or her marbles. The only true way to dispose of these creatures is either their weakness to copper and silver, or behead them. Don't even try a stake to the heart, leave that to the fictional stories.
STRENGTHS:
➤ Immortal, can still die but won’t age.
➤ Enhanced senses (Can smell blood from several meters away, see in total darkness, hear whispered conversations from across a room if they focus. Can detect the presence of drugs, alcohol and tell if they’re supernatural from tasting their blood).
➤ Enhanced speed - slower than werewolves/demons
➤ Enhanced strength - stronger than werewolves, weaker than demons.
➤ Enhanced healing - faster than werewolves/demons.
➤ Only need to feed off of humans or animals to sustain themselves.
➤ Mind compulsion - works only on humans.
➤ Minor telepathy - can manipulate one's dreams, more effort with other supernaturals
➤ Can sense werewolves and witchcraft.
WEAKNESSES:
➤ Witch blood is far more delicious, for some it can be like crack.
➤ Sunlight makes them uncomfortable, but won’t kill them. Prolonged time in the sun might cause a nasty sunburn quicker than an average human.
➤ Silver and copper burns, also a herb called vervain weakens them if ingested.
➤ Werewolf bites are venomous and can result in death if untreated. Vampire will need to drink the blood of a werewolf to cure it.
➤ Have to feed fairly regularly or they’re likely to lose some of their sanity.
➤ Broken neck won’t kill them but it’ll knock them out for varying amounts of time.
➤ Drinking human blood will make a vampire stronger than one which drinks animal blood.
➤ Highly flammable, they burn quickly and can die if not extinguished in time.
➤ Vampires cannot enter a home without being invited in. Public buildings don’t count for this.
➤ Vampires are susceptible to magic, Witches can siphon from a vampire to weaken them.
WEREWOLVES
THE FLESH OF OUR OWN
Who let the dogs out? Like vampires, the curse of the 'werewolf' or lycanthropy, has been around since the early ages of our time, cursed by witchcraft for reasons unknown, these beings have since then multiplied, be it by bites (only in werewolf form) or by birth if one parent holds the curse as well, there is a chance that the child will inherit it as well. Werewolves age incredibly slow, making their lifespan much longer than that of a human, but also enhancing their senses. Werewolves have extreme enhanced strength and healing, more so than their vampire enemies, and while they are quick with enhanced speed, not quite as quick as the other group. Transformation is at will, but control is also harder when there is a full moon overhead, your animal instincts call and anything can happen. Don't believe what they say about werewolves being a furnace, there is not temperature difference between them and humans, blending in is easy as can be...if they can control themselves and not have an accidental transformation. The best way to rid of these creatures is pierce them with silver - silver to the touch will do nothing, poisoning with Wolfsbane or beheading them.
STRENGTHS:
➤ Slowed aging compared to humans.
➤ Enhanced senses (Smell, hearing, taste, sight).
➤ Enhanced speed - faster than vampires/demons.
➤ Enhanced strength - weaker than vampires/demons.
➤ Enhanced healing - faster than demons, slower than vampires.
➤ Can transform at will (outside of full moon).
➤ Their bites are fatal to vampires, their blood can also work as an antivenom.
➤ Can sense demons and vampires.
WEAKNESSES:
➤ Unwillingly transformations during a full moon.
➤ Silver burns.
➤ Werewolves are extremely susceptible to magic, Witches can siphon from a werewolf to weaken them.
➤ Wolfsbane is like a poison, it burns the skin and will weaken if ingested. Can take a while to recover from its effects.
➤ Extremely likely to pass on the werewolf gene to offspring.
➤ Transformation is extremely painful, every bone in the body breaks. Over time with the more they change the less painful it becomes.
➤ They share many of the same weaknesses as a human.
WITCHCRAFT
BUBBLE BUBBLE TOIL AND TROUBLE
While not posessing any sign that they are of magical beings, witches and warlocks have means of their own. Spells can be used but the at the cost of magical energy. Light and dark magic, from elemental to healing, to telekinetic abilities as well, roam this town, it is easy to pick which path to walk. Enchantments help protect these beings from the most common ways of death, otherwise they would perish just as easily as everyday human folk. Most are suave, knowledgeable and have a quick wit about them, helping them with self preservation and prolonging their lives, but there are others that the more simple route, making their demise much simpler and easier to accomplish.
STRENGTHS:
➤ Spell casting - ability to change or control events through incantations
➤ Channeling - ability to invoke extra forms of energy focusing on external forces
➤ Potion brewing - ability to create potions, remedies and elixirs that have supernatural properties
➤ Other powers: telekinesis, pain infliction, elemental control, healing
➤ Uncommon powers: telepathy, teleportation, possession, illusions, dream manipulation, resurrection
➤ Light magic and dark magic both come with their own limitations and drawbacks
➤ Can sense werewolves and vampires.
WEAKNESSES:
➤ Breaking concentration from a spell may render it ineffective.
➤ Witches are vulnerable to attack while casting a spell.
➤ Their magic is tied to their emotions. So strong emotions such as worry or anger might fuel a witch’s power, while emotions like fear may prevent them from properly accessing their powers.
➤ Witches will temporarily lose any ability to use magic if they wear sapphire.
➤ Their blood is very addictive to vampires, can make them more of a target.
➤ Witches are susceptible to magic, others witches can siphon to weaken them.
➤ Excessive use of magic can lead to disorientation, nose bleeds, unconsciousness, and if taken to the extreme, death.
➤ They share many of the same weaknesses as a human.
DEMONS
TURN OUT THE LIGHTS ; WE CAN SEE IN THE DARK
Going back as far as any recorded documentation shows, demons have always been around, though not physically at all times, but present since the beginning. Demons posses enhanced senses in comparison to their human counterparts, regarding speed and strength, as well as a quicker healing time when injured. Demons can also blink - move distances without physically moving, though not huge distances. Some can also manipulate the mind, trick the head and sometimes make their victim go crazy or do their bidding. With age, those demonic entities can form a body of their own, though for the younger demonic crowd, there is always a way of possession, however, choose carefully, once you choose your designated host, that host must die before you are able to occupy a new host to be your cover, whether the intentions or even knowledge of demons is good or bad, they walk among us. Break out your holy water and crucifix, the only way to get rid of these guys is the basic old exorcism.
STRENGTHS:
➤ Immortal, can still die but won’t age
➤ Demonic possession - young demons can possess bodies to take over as their own. They can also access their host’s memories
➤ Enhanced senses: Hearing (as well as able to hear other spirits/demons who do not possess a body), Sight (especially in the dark).
➤ Enhanced strength - Stronger than werewolves/vampires
➤ Enhanced speed - Slower than werewolves, faster than vampires
➤ Enhanced healing - Slower than vampires/werewolves
➤ Mind compulsion - Doesn’t work on vampires, werewolves are aware when compulsed, can be used on humans and witchcraft easily.
➤ Short distance teleportation called “blinking”
➤ Supernatural perception - they can see hidden supernatural activity, such as magic being cast.
➤ Voice mimicry - ability to imitate others voices, useful for phone conversations
➤ Minor telekenisis - can move/throw objects around/slam doors and windows.
➤ Body creation - old enough demons can create their own hosts. Takes a great amount of power to do over a span of time.
➤ Can sense other supernatural/magical beings (cannot determine what race unless witchcraft.)
WEAKNESSES:
➤ Exorcism - will rip a demon from a possessed body, fatal to a “self created” body.
➤ Devils trap - a magical symbol drawn will trap a demon inside, it’s just the matter of making them unknowingly walk into one.
➤ Holy water - burns the skin and will weaken if ingested. Prolonged exposure will make them feverish and could kill a demon
➤ Physical damage. If they’re just possessing a body they cannot recover from major damage done to it.
➤ Churches & Crucifixes - Demons cannot set foot in any church without feeling as if they're burning, as well as having a crucifix placed against them. (Regular old jewelry in the shape of a cross will not do anything.)
➤ Salt burns and will weaken them if ingested. If a salt line covers a door they cannot pass over it or blink to the other room.
