MARI BELLAMONT
FACE CLAIM: HAYDEN PANETIERRE
22 Female Witch Student Hetero; Single |
Personality
Mari is anything but rude. She is sweet as can be and enjoys a good conversation with those she knows, but for the most part she keeps to herself. When spoken to, she will reply, but otherwise she's quiet and likes to stay out of the way of others, focusing on her own problems and ordeals. One might call her antisocial, but others may just call her focused or odd, she is all of these things somewhat in a sense. And with that soft and sweet nature of hers comes a will to try anything that would benefit someone else. she's willing to help others...so long as it doesn't get her in trouble and doesn't cause confrontation. Though this blonde hates confrontation and fighting physically, she is a very determined follower. If there is a friend in need, she will gladly stand at their side and risk her own safety for them. She can be somewhat stubborn at times if it's for the right cause, but for the most part this girl is a pushover, though she likes to think she's a little tougher than that. She has a backbone, but is too afraid to show it and have people think even less of her than they already have. With being the new kid in town, it's hard to be a door mat to be walked all over, with every passing day she is trying to toughen up and lose an incredible trait of being gullible as well.
History

- Roland Hawke, Uncle (Mother's side); Alive
Mari grew up as the single child of Richard and Charlotte Bellamont, having been born and raised in Rhode Island just off the coast. Having attended the best schools that money - her parents - could buy, as well as being pushed in every extra curricular activity that she could stand, Mari looked to have a bright future ahead of her in any form of academics she wanted, whether it was science, history, anything her heart desired looked to be in her future. Continuing her excellent reputation for academics through middle school and high school, Mari did find a different interest that really pulled at her attention. She loved her music classes, loved her art classes, and while she had constantly been told that she would end up as nothing more than a 'starving artist', she decided she wanted to pursue a career in either of the two, if not both. She had a certain fondness especially for music considering she had been tossed into piano and violin lessons as a young kid by her very protective and strict parents.
During her sophomore year of high school, her father, a well off doctor, had been sued for malpractice and his own little office had been shut down, driving their family name through the mud and giving Richard Bellamont a different view of things, a darker view. Hard as he tried to find new work, to rebuild his reputation again as one of the best maternity doctors in town, it simply didn't come to pass and the frustrations of failure took their toll on him, slowly easing his and his wife's way into a relationship of domestic violence. The two had rarely seen each other after Mari was born, Richard having worked all the time, and once Mari was able to be home alone, Charlotte went back to work as well, now with all this time seeing one another...it seemed as if things were on a downwards spiral. Though Mari had never been victim to the abuse, at least the physical kind, she didn't like what she was seeing or hearing, she had never seen the abuse first hand, until the day came where she had...and became the victim as well. The abuse lasted for a few years, until Mari had finally had enough, being the one in the middle of everything and being on the receiving end, she was the one who called the cops (for the umpteenth time) and with physical evidence that she and Charlotte had been harmed...they took Richard Bellamont away in cuffs.
But Mari didn't feel safe, she was forever scarred.
After so many calls, so many warnings, the former honorable and well loved man of the Bellamont house was dragged away in cuffs and sentenced to prison, though not for as long as either Bellamont girl would have liked, but they had no say in the justice system's ways - if you could really call it justice. With constant worries making Mari's mother, Charlotte, more paranoid than ever, it got to the point where things were still bad at home. Charlotte would spend nights out and never come home...one, two...sometimes three days straight, it was as if the roles had been reversed. Mari was the parent of an irresponsible and questionable child, while Charlotte was the girl getting into the wrong crowds. Remembering a school on her list of potential universities to check out for her major and minor studies...Mari couldn't help but find Valhaven's university to be most appealing, if only to get away from her mother - who too was on a downwards spiral to disaster - and the potential threat that was her father when he got released from prison. Mari was quick to contact one of her more favorite relatives out in the area, making it the most ideal place to attend, so long as her presence was welcome, and it seemed it was.
Without explaining where she was going - since she never saw her mom anymore - and not explaining in full detail as to why Valhaven was the place to go to her Uncle Roland, Mari packed up her things as much as she could and started planning her escape to the nowhere town in Colorado, damn near on the other side of the country. No place could be worse than here after all, right?
