Tucking a lock of red hair behind her ear Erika sighed and smoothed out the creases of her shirt. Today was to be a long one, paperwork had to be filed and she had a meeting with the high school because once again – her screw up of a sibling couldn’t behave. She was going to go grey. She’d been furious after the principal called – a broken window; for goodness sake. Well she’d show him, he wasn’t going anywhere this weekend – oh she’d show him alright.
But first she needed coffee. A lot of coffee.
The town was still new to Erika. There was places yet to be explored and while she was eager to find her bearings anxiety plagued her and kept her curiosity at bay. The bell above the door jingled as she stepped into the warm cafe, the smell of coffee hit her nostrils immediately and she sighed with contentment. Just what she needed. The red head rushed forward to focused on coffee – and finally being able to function like a normal human witch - to notice the wet floor sign. With a loud and very undignified squeak Erika slipped forward and crashed into an empty table.
“For goodness sake,” she whined, cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

| Max had just finished mopping up a spill and he ensured that the bright yellow sign was front and center. Nobody could miss it! Smiling to himself, he moved back behind the counter and pushed the mop and bucket into the back room. It was rather simple to lift the full bucket into the large sink, though if he was human it certainly would have been a struggle. He supposed that was one good thing about being a vampire.
Hearing the bell jingle, signifying another customer entering, he quickly ran his hands under the clean water before wiping them dry and returning out to the counter. His coworker had just stepped out for a quick (but late) lunch, leaving Max alone for the time being. He was slowly getting better…at least behind the counter. But just as he was about to greet the unfamiliar woman, he saw her feet slip and his bright green eyes widened in shock.
How had she missed the sign?!
Max hurried around the counter and moved to help her off the table, his own feet slipping a bit on the wet floor. Somehow he remained on his feet, though. “Oh! U-Um…are you…are you alright?!” That was just what he needed – a customer to slip and hurt herself when he was the only one there! “Here…um…why don’t you…sit. A-And…I can take your…order?” Pulling the chair out from the very table that the woman had crashed into, Max licked his lips nervously.
Please don’t get mad!
