VALEN BLACKTHORNE
FACE CLAIM: JAKE GYLLENHAAL
twenty-seven (738) Male Demon Mechanic/Bartender Hetero; Single |
Personality
Valen is something of a 'black sheep' when it comes to his personality and what he is. He isn't what you would picture if someone told you he was a demon, he is far kinder than the harsh image most think of. He's no saint though either. Valen's greatest talent seems to be running his mouth, goading people, finding satisfaction in either making someone uncomfortable or making them angry, he likes to fish for trouble and it always tends to find him very quickly. With sarcasm flowing heavily in his speech, quick and witty comments accompany them in making him something of an asshole, to be quite simple. Underneath that 'asshole' shell of his though, there is kindness and morals, there is a desire to fit in, the life of a demon...to live forever with no real purpose but to cause pain, he didn't want that life. Anything he could do to fit in, have some semblance of a life here was all he needed. He picked up on attitudes and how people tended to use them until he adapted rather easily to it. Sarcastic, witty, and oddly enough...charming to boot! He's had a lot of experience getting to know his new self, able to call his personality his own and not just an act.
Side note: He has a pentagram "tattoo" on the left side of his neck, some sign of marking what he is, but pulls it off as just ink.

Valen's time before forming a body for himself is practically non-existent, there are no stories to tell, everything about him started once he broke away from several hundred years of servitude to a greater power that he wanted no part of after some time.
Whatever had possessed the apparent young man to walk among the human folk, is very simple and blunt. He wanted to do good, live something of a normal life, and not be something to be feared. Though he knew that living a normal life would not ever be possible...witnessing them, partaking in some of the 'normal life' features, that he could do. He started out in the early 1900's, starting out in New York City. Just as bustling then as it is today, though technology was very different. He kept himself moving, his current form not aging or changing since it wasn't a pre-made host, and no one ever seemed to question him whenever he was the 'new guy' in town. Not back in the early 1900's, and still not questioning him today. He was amazed at the history that this place went through, rather impressed that he got to witness a great deal of it no matter where he went, but he never wasted too much time in one location, so there were things he had missed - first hand at least. Wondering where his next location of interest would be, it was becoming apparent to Valen that places would soon become scarce if he kept this up for a few hundred years, but there was something so damn appealing about smaller towns. He had seen it all, the large bustling cities, the most boring of places, but one that had captured his heart lately had been the small town of Valhaven. Having moved to the Colorado town about a year ago, Valen got a quick start on his new life here. He was successful, having worked for many many years, building a steady cushion of money to sit on, he decided to use the same story he did in every other town. He had learned the mechanic trade, dealing with a wide variety of cars, holding a particular fondness for the older versions, but it got him where he was.
As a part time hobby, Valen also purchased an old bar that had been run down a few years back within Valhaven, restoring it to a much better and more liked local bar. It seemed to gain some affection from the tiny community that inhabited Valhaven, which was the goal. Valen was no longer seen as a stranger, and was finding himself very comfortable with this lot of people. While working hard - he literally had nothing else to do - he did find himself partaking in those 'real life' activities as well, going out and having a good time when he could do so away from work, it was amazing what the human folk came up with for entertainment and keeping themselves busy when they weren't drowning themselves in their work or some other means. Not really making an effort to any form of relationships, Valen did assume that it would be better to not have so many ties, especially when he would pick up and move again, whenever that was, plus, he also knew that if for some reason...someone did come along and strike at what could possibly be his heart...it wouldn't be possible. His life would continue on, that would be something difficult to deal with - or at least that was what he assumed by what fictional stories about these sorts of things said.
For now, Valen just continues to do his work at his mechanics shop, as well as spending a good chunk of his time at the bar and grill he also had in his possession, not looking for anything in particular, but mostly watching the humans and their interactions. Judging their emotions, their actions, it was about as entertaining to him as television was to one of them. It was only a matter of time before he decided it was time for him to pack up and move on, whether that was because he got bored here - which judging by the track record thus far, wasn't happening anytime soon - or his lack of changing at all caught up with him and people started to wonder, if they were observant enough to wonder that is.
