I'm stronger than you know A cold breeze rolled past Kallie, taking some of her hair with it. The blonde locks danced along the side of her face until she brushed them back into place. It was a cool autumn afternoon in the park. Kallie was just out for a jog on one of her days off. She didn’t get many of those while the cafe was being renovated. Getting a short run in when she could kept her mind clear. It also gave her a chance to explore this new town.
Headphones in she was focused on the music in her ears rather than the noises around her. It happened anytime they moved to a new area. Kallie’s senses would go into overdrive with the new surroundings and it really distracted her. She hated not being able to focus on the task at hand, which for her right now was running and planning what else needed doing in the cafe.
The gravel pathway led into an unkept wooded area, part of the paths had faded with time. Turning sharply around a tree to go right she slammed into another body. Yelling out in surprise she fell backwards. Hands instantly going down to catch herself on the ground she let out a quick breath and peered to the person she’d just ran into. “Damnit, I’m so sorry!” she pulled an earphone out as she spoke and pulled herself to her feet. Brushing off some of the dirt from her jogging bottoms. “That corner needs a stop sign” she mumbled with a small scowl up at the tree beside her. Kallie was also frowning at herself for being so careless.

--------------- Alice could not get enough of the scenry here. It was much different than what it was in the city. Even in the smaller cities, she could sense the change with the people. Her camera in her hands as she stood taking pictures of it. It was seemingly what people liked her to do, take pictures. She had not even went to school for it, yet here she was. Not really aware of where she was standing, she could have been standing in the middle of the road if it was a good shot. Her attention was grabbed as she was ran into. Thankful that the knock over she had landed on her ass as not to hurt the camera. But damn, that was a hard hit. Almost taking her breath.
Her eyes looked to the woman in question as she spoke, giving a small shake of ehr head, "No harm no foul." She said as went back to stand up. She almost felt like she had just been hit by the quarterback. She tilted her head as the woman spoke again but a small laugh soon followed, "Yeah no kidding. A ton of places around here do." She responded looking down to her camera just to make sure. Though it was not as if she would have done anything if it were broken anyway. There was not really all that much she could have done about it in the first place.
Moving some of her hair out of her face she looked back to the woman. "Are you alright?" She questioned her. She found herself becoming more and more nice to these people that were in Valhaven. The wreck that used to be her blocked pesonality was lifting for the good at least. At least good enough for these folks. She dusted the dirt off of her bag and then the backside of her pants, not that she could really see it.

I'm stronger than you know Kallie hadn’t expected anyone else to be around at this time. She was hoping to map out the area to find a place to go for a real run. It had been some weeks since her last change and she was itching to transform. She needed a little privacy for such events, this area was certainly not safe to do so. Straightening up after brushing what she could from her joggers she nodded at the woman who wasn’t all that upset she’d just been rammed. “I should have slowed when I got to that corner. You alright? Did I break your camera?” she’d spotted the item in her hands and frowned a little more. It looked expensive. She’d put most of her savings into renovations.
The music continued to play from the headphones hanging around her neck. The music still clear as day for her. Kallie pulled the phone from her pocket to switch it off and remove the distraction. There was already enough distractions in the park without having that additional one. At the question she opened up her hand to check. Kallie had grazed her palms from catching herself during the fall. Nothing that wouldn’t be gone over the next hour or so, it was already starting to heal. Closing her hands quickly before the other person could catch it she let her arms drop in a more relaxed manner “Nothing serious, I’ll probably live.”
Kallie eyed her carefully, the other woman seemed to be human as far as she could tell. Not that it bothered Kallie if it were something else. She had a habit of mentally pointing out what she thought someone was. A way of keeping her skills trained. “What’re you taking photos of exactly?” she asked while nodding back down to the camera. An easy talking point with the stranger, Kallie was naturally curious. Wildlife photographers were more of a nuisance than anything. Especially around the time of a full moon. If they caught wind of wolves residing nearby they have a habit of going out in search of them. Past close calls have been enough to keep Kallie’s wits about her.
“My names Kallie by the way. I heard there was some campsites about. Wanted to check them out. Mind pointing me in the right direction?” Her warm smile as she asked the question had made her hopeful that the other person would be equally as kind. From her attire it was clear she was just out to jog, Kallie’s other motives for being out remained in the back of her mind.ome of the dirt from her jogging bottoms. “That corner needs a stop sign” she mumbled with a small scowl up at the tree beside her. Kallie was also frowning at herself for being so careless.

--------------- Giving a shake of her head at the womans question, "No, I think it's good." She said with a small smile looking back to the woman. Not to say that it was not expensive but if she had to buy a new one then so be it. However that sort of thing took time with the current line of work. It was like pulling teeth to save anything at all. Though it was good to hear that she was alright. That was the last thing that she wanted was for her to get hurt. However she did look alright. Neither of them were crying at least. She gave a small laugh at her thought and pulled herself to answer the womans next question.
"Scenry mostly. What Valhaven has to capture." Alice said to her with a small smile. While Valhaven might have had that, it was certainly a wonder to behold most times. It was not like she was trying to russle up trouble either, she was just here because she wanted to be. Trying to stay out of peoples way, at least that was what she thought. She pushed back her hair a bit, "Allyson, though people call me Alice." She said holding her hand how somewhat.
Her head turned in the direction of campsites that she knew of. "There is some down thataway I believe. Marked off and all." While it might have been easy to get lost here, it was not as if Alice had been there her entire life anyway. She was still getting the hang of things, but that was about how she always felt in most cases. Always a little behind and less on the upkeep. "Kind of slow this time of year, with the weather and all. People like to be warm when they camp. I never really understood that." Alice retorted as a matter of fact. They wanted to experience camping but they did not take the time to understand that anything power related should not have been a must.

I'm stronger than you know She let out a small breath in relief to the news. No broken items and she seemed to be unharmed. Kallie was glad to see their encounter turned out well. Wasn’t everyday she’d run straight into someone then somehow make them laugh. Kallie wasn’t entirely sure what the other woman was laughing about. It didn’t seem directed at her.
“Oh nice. My sister is into the whole photography thing too. She keeps going on about the lake being pretty at sunrise. Way too early for my liking honestly” she spoke casually, laughing a little at her last comment. Kallie wasn’t a great morning person. She didn’t mind openly speaking about her siblings, her life had revolved around them for so long it was hard not to think about them when she was away from them. Furry jerks. She snapped out of her thoughts when the greeting followed with Alice’s hand came towards her. Kallie took a moment to register exactly what was happening but recovered in time to take the hand in a small shake before retreating it. “I didn’t realize handshakes being a greeting was a thing anymore. Isn’t it all fist bumps and unusual lingo these days?” Kallie couldn’t help but smile to herself.
Eyes following where Alice’s head went she stared off into the woods. “Perfect” she replied and nodded as Alice continued to talk. “They’ll be demanding heaters and wifi next” she laughed. “I moved nearby actually, but it’s still nice to take breaks away from everything, you know?” A typical camping trip wasn’t what she had in mind but she did enjoy being out here. There was something about being away from modern life and going back to basics.

--------------- Alice gave a laugh at her words. "I tend to agree. Better at night time, mostly because of the stars. I can appreciate it then." She said her with a small nod of her head. There was something about the morning that just turned her the wrong way as well, but it was all really the same in the end. The slight pause at the woman shaking her hand gave Alice an arch of her brow. Though she came to understand it at least. "Ahh, well some in this little town are like that. But anyone with proper greeting etiquette." Who was she to talk about that, she had been worse in the past. Little less than a hello. However this town, it was this town. She was chalking it all up to that.
She gave another smirk at Kallie's words. "Indeed. Who needs a fire anymore? Just bring your damned camper while you are at it." She said giving an example not talking of anyone specific. But Alice understood the need to get away from it. In fact she thought that most people here in Valhaven did. It was why most of them were in the first place. While they did not get a lot of tourists, it was the spot to move to. In a way she did not understand, but hey whatever made a person happy, right.
Looking back to Kallie she spoke again, "So you are somewhat new then, what brought you here? And please do not say the internet." Alice questioned with a small shake of her head. That was mostly another thing that she hated, was the internet. It gave too much about yourself. Too much information that no really needed to know. Though she did use it for somethings, like research. And there it was, the pot calling the kettle black. Alice shook her head for a small moment at that thought.

I'm stronger than you know She nodded slowly, thinking more on her next words. “Can be quite dangerous alone out in the woods at night. I really like watching the stars from my backyard with a beer in hand” her smile grew some more. If she could deter one person from an evening walk it might save a life one day. Kallie could think of nothing better than to view the stars through a canopy of trees. She let out a small sigh. More people were guaranteed to want to shake hands. “I suppose it’s better than that whole cheek kissing thing some people do” scrunching up her nose a little as she spoke. She really didn’t like how intrusive on personal space those sort of greetings seemed to be. A few vampires she’d met hadn’t quite gotten out of the habit.
Laughing as Alice continued to talk about luxury camping life she felt herself quickly warming up to this other woman. It was easy to get along with her sense of humor. Kallie liked that about her, quick wit and and wasn’t shy to say what she really had on her mind. Her hand came up to brush some hair back. “Might aswell just skip camping entirely, get a motel or something” she mocked an exasperated tone and rolled her eyes.
“Who needs the internet when you have a magic eight ball?” she retorted with a laugh, “I just shook that until the right answer came up.” Kallie was really enjoying herself, she’d almost entirely forgotten about nearly mowing down Alice at the beginning. She felt like she knew her well already. “But really, I brought one of the places in town and fixed it up. Turned it into a cafe. You should stop by sometime.” Kallie grinned as she spoke, proud of her achievement but she wasn’t really trying to push Alice into becoming a customer. It’d just be nice to have a friend come hang out with her on shifts occasionally.

--------------- "Sure it can." Alice said with a small nod of her head. She had heard of strange things happening in woods, though it was the mystery that really got to people. When they did not know what it was that was really going on. Sort of like in those movies were you yelled at them not to go that way, but they insisted. While Alice might not have known of the real dangers, she knew very well that the woods alone was enough. She had seen The Blaire Witch Project after all. "Yeah some people insist on that too." She said in response to peoples greetings. While she did not really care about personal space, unless it mattered, it was just one of those things.
Alice gave another smirk, and pointed at Kallie and her words, "I can agree on that. Some do not see the appeal of actually camping anymore." She said as she gave a small nod of her head on that though. "Ah well it tended to be right though depending on how you looked at it. But I can get it, randomizing and all. Can't keep things to straight." She said with a small shake of her head as Kallie went on to mention the cafe. "Oh okay, I was wondering who bought that place." She said. "Strongbrew yeah?" She recalled seeing it a few times in passing but never checked the place out.
"I can most certainly check it out. Now that I know the owner is a bit on my level." She said with a firm nod of her head. Though it was not really about the owners it was about the establishment. Alice knew that, sure. But it was also the people that made the joint. They were the heart of a place, made it welcoming and what not. She was never really into management.

I'm stronger than you know Leaving the comment at that Kallie didn’t know her well enough to really get into staying safe when out and about. There’s more dangers in the world than an average person realized. Even humans themselves could be just as dangerous as any supernatural being if they really wanted. After hearing some people did infact go for that sort of greeting she pulled an even bigger face. Kallie was very adamant about having her own personal space. The thought of a complete stranger getting up in her business really made the hairs stand on the back of her neck.
Shifting her weight to her other leg Kallie could feel her palms were a lot less sore now, almost completely healed already. “When was the last time you went camping?” she queried curiously. Kallie couldn’t remember the last time she’d purposely gone out with the intention of just camping. Usually it was to go do her transformations in peace. Kallie grinned some more “It’s always fun to have a little change going on in your life.” Hearing Alice say the name of her cafe made Kallies whole face light up. “Ahh so you’ve heard of it. All good things I hope?”
A small laugh escaped her lips when Alice spoke some more, “Awesome, you're welcome to stop by anytime” Of course Alice could stop by anytime, it was a public building. Kallie internally kicked herself over the stupid wording and quickly added “So, what do you do for work? Anything interesting?” Kallie felt quite at home in a management position. She basically did it in her personal life too. Rounding up her siblings and making sure none of the did anything stupid used to be her main job until she got this cafe.

--------------- Alice looked to Kallie with a small shake of her head at the question. "A long time actually." She said to her in a small saddening voice about her. She had yet to do that here in Valhaven. As long as she had been and she had not been camping. In fact she figured that it was known for that at least. When she moved to Valhaven it was nothing but change. It was from one setting to another, cross country in fact. The more that she thought about it the more that she considered it to be unrealistic, who in the hell did that, ever? Not many, though she thought that the ones that did, were the ones that were mostly like her.
"Well, I hear the coffee's good." Alice said in a rather awkward tone. Of fucking course the coffee was good, awesome small talk there Alice. She shook her head with a small laugh. This was the part of her life that she was no good at, outside of Marcell and Griffin she was not really prone to anyone else. At least she could admit that part. "I will do that." Alice said with a small smile to her.
Her next question however, Alice did not have trouble answering. "I work down at the bar and grill. Good joint. About the only joint come to think of it." She said with another shake of her head.
