Everything was so up and down, it was almost weird. Enjoyable to an extent, but weird. Then again, was anything truly ever normal in this life? No, probably not. Their banter was something that could be lived with, though they had started fairly rocky out here, it seemed as if the real tension and irritation had gone away, but Valen could have been wrong on that front, it was just the feeling he got from all of this. He tried to get under Kallie's skin at points, she under his, it seemed like a fair trade, but that didn't mean everything was all fine and dandy, after all..the two barely knew one another. If...if Valen was being quite honest, he did look forward to running into Kallie again, if only to annoy her further, since his appearance out here had seemed to do that as well, he imagined it would be more enjoyable each and every time.
“Trust you? Doesn't that seem a bit hypocritical?” The demon couldn't help but quickly throw back at Kallie as he did his work, leaving that opportunity to ask questions alone, he was beyond certain that he wouldn't get any responses he wanted anyways, why waste his breath? Even if he was challenged on that matter...it would serve him no good, or at least that was the assumption anyways. A smirk couldn't help but pull at his lips as he quickly separated himself from the demons that did partake in murder and possession, explaining briefly that he had his own body and no one else's, it wasn't a mere host...no shell of a corpse or anything creepy like that. It wasn't to say that Valen had never attempted possession...or partook in murder before, it was kind of in his nature at a younger...age. It was almost like a human life, wasn't it? He had grown out of that, sort of seen where it wasn't interesting and wanted to forge his own path, was that so bad? At least he didn't think about any of the people he had formerly caused grief, it was hardly even a memory for him having been so long ago.
As far as his appearance went though, “I'll take that as a compliment, also no. You pick up on several features with the many different people you see...I took what I thought was best and...” He gestured to himself once more, quickly and briefly. “I've never tried 'editing' though, never had a reason to...but I'm going to assume it would be no easy task...or would just be impossible altogether.” He liked how he looked, he got by a lot because of how he looked...so there really was no need to change it, so long as he kept up as charismatic and likable – a bit of an ass sometimes – then he would be just fine and no one would question him. Besides, no one was perfect, he didn't want to be. The less attention Valen ultimately brought to himself the better.
The job was done though, that meant two things...payment and sending Kallie on her way. There was a pretty good offer on the table though, letting her go without paying a dime for a simple little answer, which she didn't seem to think was all that great of a deal. Claiming she was a 'nothing' brought a small look of exasperation to Valen's face, huffing a small sigh as he pocketed his hands and expected what was to happen before it happened. He supposed that a free job here was compensation for free food back at the cafe – though there was in incredible price difference. Oh well, so he was out a little bit of money, that wasn't too bad, he could always use this as ammunition later if he really felt like it. “I don't believe you're just 'nothing'.” He was quick to retaliate, but Kallie was having none of it. Now, Valen could have easily just placed himself in her car and kept digging – likely continuing to get resistance in the process – but he did have work to do.
As curious as he was...
Sighing yet again to himself as the blonde had taken off, it was a little surprising for the tidbit of information she had left him with. Once she was out of sight on the road, Valen pulled out his phone and went through his contacts, spotting her name...just as she had said. Viewing the details, he couldn't help but scoff and roll his eyes at the selfie she had left in there for him as well. He wasn't sure if he was annoyed...or completely amused, either way, there was no more time to lollygag now that the blonde distraction was out of the way. For now.
