Marcell really loved his job. He didn’t think many would have felt satisfied with being a chef for the local bar as a permanent position. For Marcell though, he couldn’t ask for anything better. The times were flexible, the pay was good, mostly got free reign in the kitchens, he could focus more on magic, and his boss was a decent guy. It really had everything he could have possibly wanted from a job.
It was a quiet weekday, nothing out the norm. Valen was out working at the repair shop, leaving Marcell and the girl on the bar to hold down the fort. He expected little to no orders to come through until around five when people started getting off work. So he spent the morning putting the kitchen in order and now had a couple of hours to kill. Sitting on top of the counter Marcell was browsing through his phone in search of distractions. Beside him were a large cutting knife, just casually spinning in circles on its side. Marcell had been attempting to improve his concentration and so far so good.
That was, until the door leading to the bar swung open.
“Griff. I told you for the last time, you’re not meant to be in he-” Marcell started to call out to the person he had expected it to be. Looking up he was met with something vastly different. Not at all Griff-looking. Startled he slammed his hand down on the counter over the top of the spinning knife to stop it immediately. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. “Uhh… what’re yo- can I help you?” he stumbled over his words while shuffling some on the counter.

Kinsly was on a hunt for a second job she was thankful for Kallie and her job at the cafe and running it. But if she was seriously about college she needed more money and another job. So here she was hitting the pavement for another job. The temptation to fall into old habits was hard but she was better then that now. She was not going to give into temptations not now. even though the two retail stores she went to were a bust. Fully staffed her ass maybe she should have borrowed Kallies clothes. She wore jeans and yess there was a few rips in them. An indigo tank top and a sweater that loose hung off her shoulders. Today had convinced her she needed a new outfit to try and get a job.
She walked into a local bar it served food as well since she had some food service experience. Hey tips would be great they would definitely help her get tuition faster. She was a werewolf trying to maintain a normal life. It was far from easy and sure she probably should be a lot further along at her age. But she was a werewolf and thankfully she did not have to worry about getting old and wrinkled like most humans. Someday she would but that was not any time soon. She glanced around the restaurant slash bar and saw no one. "Hello?" she said aloud and walked over to the bar drumming her fingers against it. "Seriously" she said turning around. "Well damn." she muttered considering leaving.
She eyes the doors on the opposing end of the bar and moved towards it. She walked into the kitchen her hazel eyes drinking it in. then cook on his phone and thinking she was someone else. But she spotted the knife spinning on it own and her mouth went agape for a moment before correcting itself. "Ummm.." she muttered slowly registering his words. "Ohh uuhhh I was looking for a job...I would ask out front but no ones there." she said honestly. Her gaze still on the knife. "I'm sorry but that knife was just...moving on its own right? Cause I am not high." she said bluntly and then regretted it. "Not that I get high or anything or would know.".

Marcell looked like a deer caught in headlights at the petite brunette stood on the opposite side of the kitchen. He still stayed seated on the counter, frozen in place like he’d been caught doing something he shouldn’t be. That was exactly it, he shouldn’t be doing magic here. It wasn’t as private as his own home. Usually he had no visitors for hours at a time. He would kick himself if he could. “Oh, right” he started out, speaking slowly while he tried to register what was happening. Maybe he’d gotten away with her not seeing anything. There was hope. “She’s probably just gone toilet or something, should be back soon.” She’d asked about a job but he’d not even processed that part yet.
He internally squirmed when she asked about the knife, her words seemingly as equally as awkward as how he felt. “Oh what this?” he raised his hand off the knife slightly. “No… no. I was just uh-” Damnit brain think of something. Marcell frowned slightly at his pause. “Spinning. Yeah, spinning. See?” His hand taking ahold of the blades handle he flicked it as best as he could to spin it on the counter. Marcell was too anxious to think of using magic to assist him.
The knife spun right off the counter and clattered onto the floor. He was just going to pretend that never happened, not even acknowledge the knife was there anymore. “So, you said something about a job? Kitchen or bar staff?” He brought his arms back to rest on the edge of the counter either side of him. The change in conversation had been smooth enough for Marcel to not feel like such a dork.

Kinsly let out a heavy sigh at the male as he spoke. Like she was not born yesterday but did he seriously want her to play along. Her brows furrowed as she watched him curiously. Was this a waste of her time. She probably have given up when there was no one up front her chances at a job probably has lessoned. She eyed the cute dark haired male as he spoke and the knife. She slowly nodded her head in reply to his answer where his co worker had wandered off to. "Ahh okay...My bad probably should have been more patient." she admitted. Though she was hardly a patient person if she had waited long enough she would have met the bartender and not walked in on this guy.
She rolled her eyes at his sad excuse of and explanation of a spinning knife. She watched him try to cover it up and it fell to the ground. She pursed her lips and looked down the back to his a he pretended to act like it never happened. "Do I look like I was born yesterday?" she asked bluntly she said having no qualms on being up front. "Fail on convincing but please feel free to try again." she said leaning forward against the counter.
"Oh yes I am looking for a job I worked at a cafe and have been in food service for more than a few years. I need another job." she said honestly.

The heavy sigh coming from the other brunette caused a slight shiver to go down his spine. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it but the longer she stayed the more he felt… something. It was like the whole room filled with them both. Marcell had felt this a few times but never really went out of his way to figure out why. Could she have been a supernatural of some kind? He’d read information on other beings which walked the earth but never attempted to seek them out. Not on purpose anyway. That would have just been looking for trouble. Maybe trouble had found him instead.
“Right. You don’t seem like the patient sort” he thinly smiled, hoping the humor would lighten her up some. As much as Marcell had hoped he’d get away with avoiding the knife subject, it was apparent the female wouldn’t be letting him off so easily. He had to give her props for calling him out on his shit. Marcell relaxed some more, she’d made no approach towards him and had laid it out on the table for him. Maybe it was time for him to do the same. “So you see a stranger playing with knives, and push for an answer? Risky.” He arched a brow at her with a small grin. Mostly just teasing her he was hoping to move on from this conversation with as little damage as possible.
Slowly he slid down from the counter, keeping a careful eye on the female as he leaned down to pick up the knife. He couldn’t use it for food now that it’d been on the floor, but he wasn’t planning to use it for that. Staying beside his own counter he placed it back into its original spot, glancing back to her to make sure she watched. He might have felt a little anxious below the surface, especially when it didn’t begin to move immediately. Hand reaching out to hover above it he motioned in circles. Soon, the knife began to slowly follow his hand, spinning slowly on the counter. Nothing quite as impressive as when he was alone but enough to prove he’d done it. “I showed you mine, guess it’s time to show me yours?” he glanced back up to her, still knife spinning the knife slowly. Nothing more than a little trick, it barely took much of his concentration to maintain.
“Well the boss, Valen, runs the local repair shop just east of here. He’s the one you’ll want to see.” Marcell replied cooly back to her. Attempting to do his best to keep the conversation casual, regardless of the weird shit.

Kinsly raised a brow as he spoke noting she did not seem like the patient sort her eyes narrowed at him. Was he mocking her but she noted the smile on his lips and forced herself to relax a bit. She had been ready to go on the attack. "I have my moments." she said in her defense shrugging her shoulders. She really was not the most patient being. Except for a work she could turn on the charm to get those tips. If people tested her patience she has since learned to direct the indecisive to a decision and vent about the asshole later to Kallie that set her off. She wanted her friends business to succeed after all and she was not going to jeopardize it by going off on the customers.
The male next remark brought a small smirk to her lips. Oh he was cute she had to give him credit for that remark. She slowly nodded her head at him before shrugging her shoulders. "Maybe I like living on the risky side of life. It so boring being ignorant." she said crossing her arms over her chest. "Knowledge is power right?" she said simply. She much prefered not to be in the dark about things. Not knowing was kind of scary for her she was blunt and upfront so people knew what they were dealing with. Minus sharing she was a wolf but details really.
She watched him get down from the counter uncrossing her arms looking over her shoulder at the door. She had no intention of leaving now he had her interest. She knew how to handle herself if he really did try anything. She looked back to him curiosity in her eyes she really was not one to hide her emotions. She watched the knife and him her mouth parting a bit as it began to spin. Yep she definitely was not imagining things. She looked to him as he spoke and swallowed closing her mouth. She shifted on her feet not sure if sharing was really the best idea right now. "I did not...you're not a demon." she said before letting out a slow sigh. "This is one way to ruin my chances of getting a job." she took a step forward flashing her eyes there golden wolf color before changing them back. "Werewolf at your service." she muttered under her breath.
"Oh cool I will go talk to him." she said nodding her head at him. "Does this Valen know what you are?" she asked curiously fishing for more information on this boss guy. She wondered if he was just a human or something more and hopefully this guy could help her. "Oh I don't even know your name." she stated. "I'm Kinsly. I promise I don't bite...well unless you count the full moon." she said making a joke out of it.

Marcell saw the eyes narrow on him, a quick exhale of air from his nose he found amusement in her words. Not that he didn’t believe she could be capable. He was still getting used to talking to someone so blunt. It wasn’t all that often they got strangers come into the bar, certainly not ones looking for a job. Marcell took it as a sign that she intended on staying a while longer. With christmas right around the corner they could use some help. Valen probably already knew that.
He listened with interest while she spoke. Mirroring her, his arms coming up into a fold over his chest. “Wouldn’t it be counterproductive to settle into such a quiet town? It has less risks. Is that why you need a job?” He was more curious than anything to know if she was staying. The longer she stayed in this very room the more energy he could feel around them. He was certain he wasn’t the only one with some sort of ability, he could just feel it. “Knowledge is power, yeah” he repeated her words with a nod. The phrase could have meant so many different things. For him it meant studying most days to keep spells fresh in his mind.
He’d caught the girl staring back at the doorway while he was in the process of revealing what he was. Thinking she was just keeping an escape route open he continued on without much concern. If this didn’t scare someone from wanting to work here, he wasn’t sure what would. Marcell’s thoughts were confirmed when she stayed put and even asked him if he was a demon. Letting out a small laugh he shook his head “No, not a demon. Just know a few tricks is all” he downplayed his capabilities. Still trying to safeguard himself in some way.
The knife slowed to a stop once the stranger flashed an unnatural color in her eyes. His attention had completely shifted onto her. No doubting that she was supernatural now. Marcell had read plenty on the lycanthrope curse but had never quite seen the transformation in person. “Wow” he breathed out, taking a moment to take it in. Realizing he had no manners he shook his head quickly “No, no. You’ll be fine job wise, chances aren’t ruined over that” he tried to reassure her quickly. If a warlock can become a chef in this place, he was sure Valen wouldn’t mind a wolf serving bar or something.
When she asked Valen he thought carefully “I think he knows, but it’s not something we really discuss though. No reason to, it doesn’t affect my job.” Marcell wasn’t really one to run around throwing his magic out there, but at the same time he never did do a great job of concealing himself. He could have laughed, he’d just shown a complete stranger what he could do without even telling her his name. He wanted to kick himself for it. His lips quirk up into a smile. “I’m Marcell, it’s been pretty cool meeting you Kinsly.” He went out of his way to repeat her name, hearing it out loud in his own voice. It suited her nicely. Shaking his head at her joke he grinned “Try not to bite too much.”

Kinsly tilted her head to the side at his words her certainly had a point. Though it was not how she saw it life was full of risk to make it better that could end in fail or success. Even if it was a quiet town. "Life is full of risks regardless of it being a quiet town." she said bluntly point to the knife. "Point and case right there." she said shrugging her shoulders. "Though life is full of taking the safe route and the more risky regardless of where you are at.: she said wisely. She scrunched her nose at his next words. "I need a job for money.: she said honestly.
She loved learning more and believed it was better to know something than to live in ignorance. She wanted to learn more all the time and collect more knowledge so she did not shy from it. She watched the knife for a small moment then looked to him as he spoke moving to run a hand through her dark hair. "I know you not a demon I would have sensed it..." she admitted. "I knew you were....something just not what." she said admitting a weakness one she was sure he knew. "Anyways enough about me." she said ready for a change in subject.
She felt herself freese as he reacted to her eyes and she glanced away to the ground. Yeah she definitely felt it was a mistake she should had not done that. She pursed her lips and shifted her bag on her shoulders. "Well this is fun." she said stating how she felt in sarcasm. Kinsly was never one to hold back. "Yeah?" she said looking back to him when he said her chances were not ruined. "What's you opinion of my kind?" she asked bolding tiling her head to the side her dark hair falling over her shoulder.
"So you have told your boss....what you are." she asked nodding to the knife. She was kind of hoping she could keep the exact of what she was a secret but it was clear she was not the only supernatural in this time. "Interesting to meet you Marcell.: she said with a nod of her head. She was being honest today did not make for a dull day in the least. "Your fine there is not full moon so I will keep my teeth to myself." she said holsign her hands up. "God that sounds lame." she said blutnly.

“Can’t argue with you there” he answered with honesty, a small smile curved his lips. Marcell’s had a lifetime’s supply of memories kept in this small town. He glanced down to the knife beside him which she pointed out. “Oh you think I’m risky? Or just the fact the spinning knife was risky?” It’d reminded him to pick it up and wander over to where the sink was located. Placing it inside he turned back to look at her. Listening to her words of wisdom he nodded slowly, smart and beautiful. “Well yeah, we all do.” he chuckled a little at her defensiveness. “It’s alright if you’d rather not tell me, I don’t need to know if you’ve moved here. Word will get round fast sooner or later.” He shrugged some, no threats or lies. A smallish town like this and the fact Marcell worked in the bar meant he heard most of what went down. Someone had opened a cafe recently which he had yet to check out.
He watched as a hand of hers ran through her hair. It gave him a moment to appreciate her in silence. When she spoke she talked more about her ability which had caught Marcell’s interest. He’d always been thankful that his own abilities wouldn’t put him through so much torment each month like lycanthropy seemed to. He’d had a respect for their kind in that regards. They seemingly came out of the other side stronger for the next time. Marcell nodded quietly to her urge of changing the subject. He’d been tempted to talk more about himself, but couldn’t think of anything to say which would have impressed the werewolf.
Catching her glancing away at his initial reaction once she’d revealed herself, he felt a punch in the gut. Hoping he’d not reacted the wrong way he nodded back to her comment “Yeah… yeah, it was” he replied with a small smile of his own. He’d not used any sarcasm as he spoke. Her following question took him by surprise. He’d not expected something so blunt “Uhhh. I don’t have an opinion?” he internally kicked himself. That had to be the worst answer in history. Letting out a faint sigh he tried again. “I just mean you’re the first I’m meeting, so it’s a good opinion so far”
Marcell shook his head some at her question about if he’d told his boss. “Just my family and two other people I’ve told… now you I guess” he added the last part slowly. It’d been a strange day indeed. “Your secret is safe with me, by the way.” he gave her a reassuring smile. Marcell knew it wasn’t any of his business to tell people. She looked like she could kick some serious ass too. He definitely didn’t want to get on her bad side. “You too” he said finally. Laughing a little to himself when she held her hands up. “Dorky maybe, not lame though” he grinned. Marcell liked dorky.

Kinsly smiled she did like being told she was right but then again who didn't. She tilted her head to the side listening to him as he spoke her dark raven hair falling over in front of her shoulder. "Well...a spinning knife is risky and practicing...magic when anyone could walk back in here...also risky." she said honestly. "What would you have done if I had been a regular human girl that had caught you." she said kind of curious how he would have covered it up. "You wouldn't have used a spell on me to make me forget would you?" she said not afraid to speak her mind in the least. She chewed on her lower for a moment in thought before she let out a small sigh. "I want to...go to school finally you know university and crap...have not conquered that adventure yet." she said shrugging her shoulders like it was no big deal.
She gave him an odd look as her sarcasm seemed to have gone right over his head. A curious brow raised up at him as he said he did not have an opinion. She let out a slow sigh eyeing the guy trying to figure out what to make of him. Clearly he was a witch he had to have some sort of feeling toward the supernatural worlds around him. But her brow calmed itself as he went on explaining she was the first wolf he met. "Oh..." she said nodding her head. "Really?...Well then..." she said just still nodding her head. "Glad I haven't mess it up yet." she said knowing she probably would at some point with her luck.
"So you don't like others knowing what you are...unless they have to know...smart." she said nodding her head. Maybe she could keep what she was a secret around here. "You won't tell..." she said knowing she had just met him but she hoped he could keep his lips sealed. She could do the same for his it was the perfect trade. But she did not have to finish that sentence he was already assuring her he would keep her secret. "Thanks." she said meaning it. She smiled when he called her dorky wanting to fight it but she knew she could be. "I will take dorky over lame any day." She cleared her throat. "I guess I should be going. Hate to distract you from your work." she said pointing to the door. But there really did not seem to be any work right now.

He shrugged some to her question. “Usually I don’t get people walking in here, unless it’s the other staff dropping in orders.” Of course she’d been right on it being risky, there was always some risks when it came to practicing magic. Bringing a hand up to rub the back of his neck he thought more on the next question. “Uhh, well I guess I’d have hoped she’d have just believed my amazing demonstration” she laughed to himself as he spoke. Spinning the knife off the counter had been far from amazing. He’d hoped his humor was light enough to make her smile too.
Her question about making her forget had him frowning a little. He’d never tried that sort of magic on someone. He didn’t even know if that was possible. “No, I won’t use my magic on you.” Marcell had been telling the truth there. He didn’t want her to forget their meeting. When she spoke about wanting to go to university Marcell smiled some. “You’ll do great. If you need any help revising or things, I don’t mind teaming up” He spent most of his time doing that anyway with spells, might aswell have some more company while he did so.
Marcell had found himself drawn to her. Now that he could sense her energy a whole lot better he felt as though it filled the room. Giving her a nod at her comment he smiled some more “And what about you? Any opinions on us magical folk?” He’s not called himself a warlock, it sounded too oldy timey. He wasn’t about to give in to Griffin’s request of being known as a wizard either.
“I suppose, the less people knowing the better. Safer that way” he shrugged, remembering the conversation his parents had with him as a child all those years ago. It had been ingrained into him since a young age. Of course he’d broken that rule on a couple of occasions, this one now being one of them, but he tried to stick to what he knew. Marcell gave her a reassuring smile when they spoke about keeping this between them. When she spoke about leaving he felt a little disheartened but knew this couldn’t keep going forever. “Well thank you Kinsly, for making an otherwise quiet day interesting for me. Good luck getting the job” He gave her a short nod in farewell, ready to watch her leave. He had a feeling he’d probably run into her again in the near future.

She slowly bobbed her head as he spoke still did not sound smart but to each there own. "Heard." she said a small hint of a smirk appearing on his lips at his next statement. "Yeah...you should work on the demonstration it needs some upgrading." she said maybe giving in and teasing him a bit."Though you might be able to fool and unsuspecting naive girl with the right line." she said shrugging her shoulders giving her two cents.
She was pleased he was not keen on using his magic on others. It meant she could relax a little around him even though she still was not sure if she fully trusted him or not. "Teaming up?" she said mulling over the idea in her head. "I would be nice to have some help." she said slowly. "I'll give you a chance." she said a small smirk on her lips.
"Agreed." she said nodding her head in agreement to his words. The whole point of a secret was keeping it one. "I normally dont share what I am with anyone." she said biting down on her lower lip. She had kept it a secret all the time she was on the streets. "No problem..." she said slowly backing away turning to exit pausing at the door. "My other job is at this new cafe you should check it out sometime." she said looking over her shoulder at him.
