For once there was no work to actually be done at the repair shop today, no cars to work on, no organizing to do, he did have some appointments coming in tomorrow, but today was one of those rare days where he felt like he had nothing to do with his time. Not having something to do did make him a little antsy, and it wasn't as if he ever really went out for himself, so instead of trying to relax – if a demon could relax at least – he figured that doing some organizing, rearranging and all around work at the bar for the afternoon was best. He could take care of some deep cleaning, get some paperwork done, ensure they were all stocked for the next while...do orders, there was a long list of things to do, things he always kept on top of, but today he could just go above and beyond the call of duty.
Normally he took care of all of this stuff in the over night hours, when no one was around...since he didn't exactly need sleep or anything, but it might look good to actually see him doing it, in broad daylight, it would just continue to keep up that very human appearance of his. So far this afternoon he had taken care of the food order, as well as the liquor order, and now he was in the middle of cleaning off every single shelf, wiping down every single bottle, disinfecting the spouts on the bottles...it was just a long winded project that he did once in awhile, that needed to be done for sanitary reasons...but it kept most people from bothering him for the moment. He let the waitress scheduled to work the floor and bar today handle any customers, giving the occasional friendly nod of greeting towards them as he stayed on one half of the bar doing his cleaning project.
Even though he did appreciate the fact that people were leaving him alone while doing his more 'manager' duties, he couldn't help but offer up at least something for one of his hardest workers. “Hey Sera, if you want to take a break, I can watch the bar and tables...everything seems to be quiet enough.” Filling in so his employees could take a quick break or grab a quick bite was not out of the ordinary, and it was appreciated, it was just his sign of appreciation for their hard work. Being a kind and more flexible boss turned out much better than ruling with an iron fist and having everyone else bend to your will – no one liked that, except...maybe the guy with the iron fist. Watching as the young lady whom he had dismissed for a short break scurried out the back, Valen kept his eyes on the bar, the few patrons in for their lunch break, he probably wouldn't have to do anything until Sera came back anyways, there weren't many inside.
There was a feeling though, it was getting closer. Anytime Valen ran into another supernatural being, it hit him like a truck, he could sense them...he just couldn't peg them for what they were. Blue eyes shifted carefully to the doorway, anticipating that...supernatural whatever to be either passing by in just a short minute...or walking right through that door. Hopefully for his sake this afternoon it wasn't Kallie, he was doing way too much to be distracted, and she definitely was...a...distraction – he wasn't sure if she was a good or bad one, but a distraction nonetheless.

<3. words: #### | Kinsly was nervous coming back to this place but she had dressed better this time around. She did not look like a street rat she had borrowed some of her besties clothes and looks somewhat put together. Her raven dark hair tied up in a tight pony tail. She could do this! She was going to do this. She thought to herself as she walked down the sidewalk. Marcell had convinced her to come back and honestly she knew she needed the job to help get money for school. She really did not want to start college when she was thirty. She needed to get her crap together now and he biggest obstacle outside the full moon was money. She was done pick pocketing and living off the streets. So far an honest living was treating her pretty damn well. She hoped it would last but only time would tell.
She felt better about herself and the Mottes certainly were the support she needed. It was nice to have a family and have people to count of for once. She was not alone which was something she welcomed. She did not have to take care of the others they helped take care of her. It was a dynamic she was not used to in the least but she liked it. This new town and fresh start was just what they all needed. They were safe from those who had challenged the pack in the past and planned to settle here. So she was doing her best to keep her identity a secret though she had already failed and spilled the beans to a witch. God she was going to have to talk to Kallie about that at some point.
She walked into the door of the bar a smile on her lips. She wore a simple dress and jacket over to cover her shoulders. Her bag hanging from her shoulder she wore a black pair of boots hint of plaid showing from the bent over flap exposing the interior. The brunette looked around taking in the place it looked the same as before just as empty except for one person actually here this time and not hiding in the back. But her felt halted and she felt a chill run over her olive toned skin. Nope this guy was not human she knew that instantly and probably would have noted it sooner if she had not been so lost in thought walking up to this place. He was a demon. No doubt about it she knew that stench anywhere.
She cleared her throat considering leaving and bailing out of this. She hated demons she had been attacked by one when she was young and he had ruined her life for a good while. "I'm Kinsly, I came by the other day looking for a job I was told to come back and speak to Valen." she said confidence in her voice. She was not one to back down from a challenge and she fully intended to figure out what the hell this guy's deal was.

Valen did well to keep himself busy, but while he was pretending to be invisible – aka, have no one bother him while he was catching up on some more of the more sanitary duties at the bar – he didn't mind lending a real hand now and again. Letting the girl who had been manning the floor take a break, he could easily handle what was going on in here, everyone had their food...their drinks...he didn't expect many people in during the day time, it was always after the work crowd got away from their jobs that things tended to pick up. This afternoon would be nothing to worry about, that's why he always left it in Sara and one of the cook's capable hands during the day while he manned the repair shop just on the edge of town.
Something caused the demon to pause though, bringing his blue-eyed gaze upwards and towards the door of his cozy little bar. Stopping what he was doing, placing the current bottle he had been wiping down back on the bar top, he waited and tried to decide if the new presence was going to wander its way into his bar. Part of him was curious as to who it was, considering the hour he figured Kallie would be at her little cafe, and what could possibly possess – ha, possess – her to come out here? It wasn't abnormal for more supernatural beings to wander into town, at least as far as he had witnessed in the past year, but lately the numbers were getting a little concerning.
Shifting his gaze away as soon as the door opened, Valen kept himself looking busy until placing a typical and somewhat friendly expression to his face. This was no face he knew...but he could sense something was unlike the majority of those that ended up walking through his doors. As she spoke, Valen was a little curious, it seemed as if the supernatural people were starting to fall out of the sky these days, landing just about everywhere. “Well then it's your lucky day,” he started, moving from behind the bar to approach the dark haired woman. “I'm Valen.” He confirmed upon approaching her, but definitely staying out of her immediate personal bubble, it was the polite thing to do. “What sort of job are you here for anyways, Miss Kinsly?” He wasn't the 'hand me a resume and let's get down to business' type of guy, he liked to keep things a bit more relaxed, he was that way with current staff anyways, why not start now?
Moving back to the bar, but on the customer side of things, he pulled out one stool, gesturing to it before wandering back behind the bar, Valen was quick to fold his arms and wait on the new face. “Take a seat and we'll talk.”

<3. words: #### | So far she had met a witch was working with a vampire and now is talking to a demon, things certainly could not get any stranger could they. That's not true I probably good she was no stranger to the supernatural nowadays. She was just hoping this fresh start and a new town would be just got a fresh start but it seemed there was supernatural everywhere. This town was going to have to be an adjustment for Kinsly.
At least she wasn't interviewing with a vampire so she wouldn't make any crude jokes about that. She just strongly dislike out demons but she's gonna do her best to try and keep her mouth shut. After all she kind of want to keep what she was hush so if she didn't ask him about his ability is maybe he wouldn't ask her about hers. The only bothers in fact was she really was not good at keeping her mouth shut she is probably one of the most blunt people she knew.
She suppressed and I row and he said it was her lucky day if you only knew how she felt about him. She was just going to play it cool and stay calm. "Wonderful!" She said plastering her fake work smile on her lips. Her hazel eyes danced over him taking him in still trying to discern whether he was a threat or not he seem to be playing it cool as well. "Waitressing or even bartending I have experience waitressing and being the food service industry and I wouldn't mind learning how to bartend I'm pretty quick study. What are you looking for?" she said slowly following him across the room.
She took a seat on the stool he pulled out for her. She dropped her purse down at her feet and put her hands on the bar. " my current boss makes for a great reference I am I work at a café." she said knowing her bestie would certainly sell her if someone called asking about her. She certainly wasn't going to mention that it was her best friend that I want to look like she got the job from nepotism.

Valen was more surprised these days as more of these...supernatural beings started to show up. Maybe it was a weird time of year, or many it just meant there was definitely more out there than he had assumed – not that he was necessarily one to talk considering what he was. He, like many others, tried to blend in, just as any vampire, werewolf or witch did...some were successful, some were not, he looked out for himself to ensure that his safety was number one, no one would come after him assuming he was a demon, no one would dare try if he had anything to say about it. Self preservation was the way of life. So far though...this lady didn't seem like a threat, but he knew well enough to stay on your toes. He always did.
“That's...actually what I'd be looking for. I've got too cooks or the back, myself and then two other girls who end up working the floor or the bar, any added assistance would be...probably a good thing, especially on our more busy evenings,” Valen explained before moving to pull out the barstool seat and work his way behind the bar, able to have a more comfortable one on one conversation with this girl, Kinsly. The more help he had, the more time he could spend either at the repair shop, or doing actual manager work. He loved working the bar, but he couldn't be here all the time, having an extra set of hands on deck would definitely make things easier around here, especially if anyone needed or wanted time off.
As soon as Kinsly started to speak again, now about a reference, Valen quirked an eyebrow and shielded his expression very well. The cafe...of course. “Strongbrew? You work for Kallisto then.” He confirmed more to himself than anything, a breath of amusement escaping his lips, leaning against the bar and remaining to be as relaxed as possible. “I'm sure she'd give you a fine reference. If you really want the job and want to juggle the two...I'm not going to say no. I can always use the help.” Looking back towards the backbar behind him where the register, displays, and where most of the alcohol was in general, Valen let out a small sigh. “If you want to train for behind the bar, we can work on that. I'd say stick to the floor for now, we'll get your experience up elsewhere. Weekend nights are a must, though you likely wont end up working all of them within a week, I try to keep things fair with scheduling, so I'll also need your schedule for the cafe...so I can work around that. Everything is fast paced here, gotta be quick on your feet and make sure everyone is taken care of.” Now we were more on the business side of things, which was alright, it was normal...it was human.
Valen just had to wonder if this girl, Kinsly, knew what he was just as quickly as Kallie had, that thought was a little unsettling, but so long as he kept himself in check and didn't raise any red flags...why should he have to worry? “So if you think you can handle it...when can you start?”

The female perked up on the bar stool as he spoke a smile on her lips. He was in need of people of front, Marcell was right she just needed to play it cool and hopefully she would have another job. She was more then willing to suck it up and work with a demon. As long as he kept his grubby hands off her she would be peaches and cream. "I have some waitressing experience." she said her fake smile painted on her lips. She was to just try and act normal and it all would work out.
"Yes I do....you know Kallie?" she asked curiously tilting her head to the side. she saw that smile on his lips and she was more then curious how he knew Kallie and why her best friend had yet to spill the beans to her. Dinner tonight would be a fun one that was for sure."I can handle two jobs." she said confidently. "Barista by day and bartender slash waitress by night." she said very assured of herself she needed this she needed more money she was determined to go to college and have somewhat normal life.
She zipped her lips listening intently as he spoke nodding her head. She was drinking in his words but from the sound of it she had a job. she was definitely going to have to celebrate this. No now of course last thing she needed was to ruin her image of professionalism for this guy by squealing. She may look like a tom boy but she could have her girly moments. "Sounds good. I can handle all that." she said folding her hand on the bar. "As soon as possible!" she said smiling at him. "I will forward you my schedule right away Bossman." she said leaning back from the bar. If she could semi-work with a vampire she could work with a demon right?

More help was appealing, so long as he didn't have too many applicants coming in at once, the bar was far too small for that, but hiring an extra set of hands now and again never hurt, besides...you never knew what sort of things could pop up within a moment's notice. Kinsly seemed like she really wanted the job, and he had to put faith in the fact that she seemed more than able to handle the job he would be throwing her way...but it was the fact that she worked for the cafe that was most amusing. It really was a small town here. “Vaguely,” Valen started, amusement coloring his tone. “I stopped by to check the new cafe out, that's...about the extent of our relationship.” An extra run in at the repair shop as well, but that didn't really count, did it?
“I'm glad to hear that. You're going to be busy between the two, but I doubt you'll complain about the income.” Valen hadn't heard any complaints from his staff about much, so he had to assume that this would be good for Kinsly, it would definitely get her by for whatever it was she planned on doing with the double income. “We can start training you behind the bar as soon as you start, that'll likely be by myself, maybe one of the other girls depending on the day.” Kinsly would likely pick it up rather quickly, especially if she had prior experience in the food industry as it was, it was like memorizing a menu, just...memorizing what ingredients went into what drinks and how much of it. At least she seemed eager to work! Able to start right away, those were things as a business owner that you wanted to hear, he could get her in right away and start the training process.
A rather fond expression crossed Valen's features. He was a pretty nice guy, and appreciated his staff well, so this was a good thing, and welcoming Kinsly was the most important, or at least...making her feel welcome. “Sounds good to me, we can get you trained within a few days, let you run over the items and see how things work here...and once I get to sit down and see the schedule, I can put you on a permanent rotation with the other girls. For now...you'll probably just be put in the busier spots where we really need the help.” A food runner, a bar-back, anything until he could actually put her somewhere in the schedule and sort it all out fairly. It was a perfect way to learn the roles during training, just being his, or one of the other girls', little shadow. “Do you want a tour of the place? Then perhaps we can start the paperwork process say...either tomorrow or the day afterwards? Whichever works best for you.”

Kinsly eyes him as he explained his connection to Kallie and nodded her head in response. She would have to talk to her friend about him curious what vibe she had gotten from him. "Oh really, thats cool." she nonchalantly she knew Kallie had to have known he was demon. She disliked both vampires and demons but at least demons did not smell as bad as vampires did. "I have known her for...a few years." she said vaguely feeling it was only right to share a little maybe he would open up and share more to so she could get a feel for him better.
"I much prefer to be busy then idle." she said honestly. She was going to have to push past her uneasiness for him to train with him. As long as he did not touch she could do this right? She was going to have to bite her tongue so hard which was not something she was sure she could do. "Can't wait to train I think I could rock the bartender thing." she said with confidence. "How long have you been at it?" she asked tilting her head to the side.
She listened intently as he spoke and nodded her head it made sense. She was going to have to make sure to clock out the evenings of the full moon. She really hoped he would not put the piece of the puzzle together but she would save that for another day. "Great! I would love a tour. Tomorrow is fine I get off at 2 and can be here anytime after to do paperwork." she eyed the kitchen curious where she had stumbled in before wondering if Marcell was in.

Eager potential employees always made the best ones to hire. Upon hearing that Kinsly worked at the cafe, Valen was...more than amused, not at her, but how weird things were lately. Two supernatural beings, both known each other for a few years, that wasn't coincidental at all. That had to mean that the brunette before him had to have her suspicions, right? Or maybe...not. She hadn't had any underlying words that had sent off red flags to him like Kallie had upon their first meeting. Maybe everything would be okay here, she was still interested in a job, demon or not. “So you're friends then? Both new in town I take it...” Well, duh. Not wanting to stay on that topic very long, Valen moved on, they could play 'get to know you' a bit later.
“With confidence like that...I have no doubt. It'll just take a bit to learn everything, there's lots of different drinks out there, but once you get the basics...you'll be just fine.” Valen was quick to comment towards Kinsly, rather impressed by her eager and optimistic attitude, but the question she tossed his way got a small grin from him, eyes diverting down to the bar for a moment as he contemplated how to answer. There was going to be no honesty here, but he didn't have to lie either, even if he was tremendously good at it. Instead, being vague was always good too. “I've been at it for awhile. Let's just say...I certainly know my stuff.” Dating back to the Speakeasy days back during the nineteen-twenties and early nineteen-thirties.
Stepping out from behind the bar to get ready for this tour of the tiny place, Valen offered his newest employee a small smile. “Sounds good then, I'll be here at two.” He could get some of his repair work done overnight anyways, so being here earlier than normal wouldn't be a problem, he could get the paperwork ready, get Kinsly acquainted with whoever was working tomorrow, and start setting up training times and what not. Making a small gesture towards the bar, the small dining floor, as well as an area for dancing on the other side, he kept his gaze on all the hard work he had put into the place. It was comfortable, but it wasn't a trashy bar by any means, he was proud of it, probably his favorite one thus far in his long...long life. “The floor, obviously. We tend to get busiest on Friday and Saturday nights, mostly for drinks and entertainment, but through the week and during the day time is mostly food related.” Making a simple gesture with his hand in a beckoning motion for Kinsly to follow him, he led her back to the kitchen.
“And here's the kitchen, we have two cooks who work the line back here. Today's edition is called Lance.” “Hey,” The one cook had waved briefly to Kinsly “You'll meet the other, Marcell, soon enough...and his tag along that appeared back here from time to time.” Valen explained as he gave his current working cook a small appreciative nod before pointing towards the back door. “Back alleyway, dumpsters, generic out-back stuff.” Moving on, he led them out of the kitchen and out a door onto a gated patio, mostly just for the smokers and anyone who wanted to enjoy a drink outside, not for eating. “Staff usually comes out here for breaks, that way no one is lingering out back...just remember to check out here once in awhile as well, lots of guests come out here for drinks and socializing, leaving behind...everything.” Glasses, bottles, anything they had on them really that caused messes. Pocketing his hands and leaning back against the rail of the small patio outside, Valen gave Kinsly a small shrug. “We can get into more details as to where things are later, the nitty gritty...but this gives you an idea of the layout at least. Still excited?”

<3. words: #### | Kinsly nodded her head at his question she was most certainly new to town that was for sure. But she was settling in quite nicely she had a job already and now she was working on securing a second one. "Yeah, so far its nice." she said liking it better than where they came from. She had history there so it was kind of nice to have a fresh start here. No one knowing her past and no need to share it if she did not want to. She really would like to keep the fact she lived off the streets for a time to herself. It was a part of her dark days when she had no family and no home. "Everyone is so welcoming...so far." she said honestly. Even the damn vampire she started working with was nice not that she would tell him that to his face though.
"I'm a quick study I can probably start researching tonight." she said thinking it would give her a good chance to prove herself. She knew it would not be easy in the least. "Awhile...hmmm...how mysterious." she said only teasing him. She would not press she did not need to know the guys age. She knew how people got about that while she on the other hand was more blase about it. "I guess we all enjoy being mysterious." she said not really hinting at anything just speaking her mind.
the brunette listen as he spoke and showed her around her hazel green eyes soaking it all in. She would definitely be talking to Kallie so she could make sure she was free Fridays and Saturdays just to have a chance to prove herself. She followed him into the kitchen her eyes quickly scanning the room as he spoke. A small pang went through her when she saw no Marcell. She wanted to show the witch she came back and got hired in the same day. She waved at Lance giving him a small smile but quickly moved on looking back to Valen. She followed him out the door to the patio. "Gotcha keep it clean out here." she nodded her head a smile on her lips. "Yes I am still excited! This is just what I need." she said with a nod of her head."I can't wait to start! I am glad you could hire a girl like me Valen."
